Qualification:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering in any of the following disciplines:
i) Mechanical ii) Electrical iii) Metallurgy iv) Chemical v) Electronics & Telecommunications vi) Instrumentation vii) Civil viii) Ceramics and ix) Computer Science from a recognized University/Institute with minimum 65% marks in aggregate of all years/semesters (50% in aggregate for SC/ST candidates). For Computer Science discipline, those having recognised Master’s Degree in Computer Applications (3-year course) with minimum 65% marks in the aggregate (50% in aggregate for SC/ST candidates) are also eligible.

Age:
Born not earlier than June 1, 1979 (Upper age limit of 30 years is relaxable by 5
years for SC/ST, by 3 years for OBC candidates and by 10 years for Physically Handicapped candidates). Those domiciled in the state of Jammu & Kashmir from 1/1/80 to 31/12/89 will be allowed 5 years relaxation in upper age limit.

Written Test:
Eligible candidates will be required to appear for objective type written test in July, 2009 at any one of the centres at Agartala, Allahabad, Bangalore, Baroda, Bhilai, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Bokaro, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Delhi, Durgapur, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Ranchi, Rourkela, Salem, Trichy, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.
HOW TO APPLY:
Eligible and interested candidates would be required to apply online only through SAIL’s website: www.sail.co.in. No other means/mode of application shall be accepted.
Before registering their applications on the website the candidates should possess the following:
a) Valid e-mail ID.
b) Pay in Slip for Rs.500/- as examination fee for General and OBC Candidates (Rs.150/- as processing fee for SC/ST& PH candidates). SC/ST & PH candidates are required to submit a self-attested copy of Caste/Disability certificate alongwith Pay in Slip.
IMPORTANT :
State Bank of India has been authorized to collect the registration fee (examination/processing fee), in a specially opened account (No. 30767176945) at CAG Branch, New Delhi, on behalf of SAIL. Candidate has to approach the nearby SBI branch with a printout of the "pay-in-slip" which is available on the Application Registration Portal.
